Today’s Read Write Poem prompt was to write about red. I was stalled until I read the question of the day on my TED widget: Where will you walk today? That was when red and TED all came together for today’s poem.
I know we have a few days left, but I want to thank everyone at Read Write Poem for the prompts, for the comments and support. I have enjoyed reading all of your poems. I have learned so much. It has been a great month – who said it was the cruelest?
Where will you walk today?
Today I will walk
to the market
through a woods
ripe with birdsong
and redbud blossoms.
It is so hard to believe
in carrots and onions,
when candles bloom
in horse chestnut trees
and raspberries
crowd the path.

You capture the simple but outlandish beauty of spring so well. I especially like “candles bloom on chestnut trees.”
mmm sounds like a lovely walk
i love the raspberries line, it sums your lovely walk.
