Today’s Read Write Poem prompt was to “find” a poem in another written work. I found mine in a recipe from 500 Years of Ottoman Cuisine.
Lady’s Belly
is an Ottoman dessert,
the oldest of a group
which includes
waterpump sweet,
vizier’s finger,
and beauty’s lip.
Make the little bellies
from buttery dough
laced with rosewater,
and flatten each one
using the tip of your finger
to impress a tiny navel.
A hot oven prepares them
for the brief, fast frolic
in lemony syrup
that will finish them off.
Serves 4.

Ohh my, what a yummy poem! I like innovative ideas like this, super.
Well, I can go without desert -such as Vezir Parmagi as we call in turkish this recipe you wrote- but not without poetry. Now I feel myself lucky as you provided both, teşekkürler:)
One edible found poem!
Love it!
A man, his fiddle and crows
What a great choice. That last stanza about a ” brief, fast frolic in lemony syrup ‘ is meant to poetry. Delightful. It makes me want to dig through some of my cookbooks for delicious phrases like that.
Wonderful, sensual and quite sweet.
I would never thought of using a recipe LOL. Nicely done!

Great job. What a good idea to turn to a recipe for poetic language!
Great job! Sounds yummy.
I’m so jealous…I’m still working on this prompt.
